FAQ
1. What are the prices of each session, and how do I pay?
Each one-hour session is priced at a flat rate of $40, regardless of the pupil's grade level. Payment will be accepted after each session, by online transfer - Venmo, or in cash.
2. What are the session protocols for parents?
Parents have the option to either drop off their child at the library and pick them up once the session is finished, or stay during the session to observe. If a parent drops off their child, the tutor is not responsible for monitoring or supervising the child during or after the session. The tutor is simply there to teach the lesson and will not be held liable for the child's actions and behavior.
If a parent is late in picking up their child after the clearly outlined session time, the tutor is not responsible for staying with the child and supervising them. Tailored Tutoring provides tutoring class time, not child care in any manner.
3. What if I want to schedule tutoring regularly?
Tailored Tutoring is thrilled that you would like continued tutoring lessons for your child! A schedule can be put in place for tutoring on a weekly basis or other recurring time frames. Please keep in mind that the tutor may not be available for all dates in the recurring schedule.
4. What is the protocol if I need to leave a session early or cancel?
A session may be ended early, however, the entire hour will be charged ($40 fee). If cancelation occurs 24 hours or sooner before the session the full price for the session will be charged ($40) - please ensure that you cancel at least 24 hours in advance to ensure that you will not be charged for this missed session.
5. How do Zoom sessions work?
The parent/guardian will be sent a Zoom link prior to the beginning of the session. The Zoom meeting will last for the duration of the session and will be ended by the tutor when the session is finished. Tailored Tutoring recommends that pupils keep their cameras on throughout the session in order to ensure optimal focus and learning.
If the pupil's internet connection or computer hinders the ability of the tutor to communicate and teach the pupil, the time spent without efficient communication will not be compensated - the meeting will end promptly at its end time. Please review the additional materials required for Zoom sessions (located on the "More Information" page) to ensure that the pupil and the tutor are allowed the full session for learning.
6. What should I do if I am a parent/guardian observing a session?
We welcome parents and guardians to observe tutoring sessions, and we appreciate your involvement in your child's learning journey! However, we do have some guidelines for parents who are observing.
- Please refrain from gesturing, speaking, or calling your child's attention during the session. It is important that your child is completely focused on the lesson in order to achieve maximum learning.
- If you have any specific items that you would like your child and the tutor to cover during this session, please attempt to address this with the tutor at the start of the session.
- If you intend to complete other business while observing, please refrain from sitting directly near your child as this may impact their focus during the session.
